Norway: Odfjell Drilling signs contract with Lundin Energy Norway 02 Mar 2021 Odfjell Drilling announced the award of letters of intent with Lundin Energy Norway for the use of the Deepsea Stavanger, Odfjell has now confirmed that a final contract for the drilling campaign has now been signed. The duration of the contract is changed to three (3) firm wells plus six (6) optional wells. The firm scope has a contractual value of approx USD 33 million. Mongolia: Petro Matad announces Block XX operational update 01 Mar 2021 Covid-19 situation in Mongolia Mongolia had effectively contained the COVID-19 virus in country until November 2020. Since then the number of cases in the community led to the imposition of tight restrictions and to date there have been three lockdowns. The total number of cases in Mongolia is approaching 3,000 and since the start of the year Ulaanbaatar has been on a high alert level with business operations restricted and government agencies working on a rotational basis. A full lockdown was established for 12 days over the Lunar New Year holiday period ending on 23 February. During the lockdown the government carried out mass testing of the population with 500,000 people in the city of 1.5 million tested. EDI Questions Whether Exchanges Can License Data They Do Not Own Date 01/03/2021 Exchange Data International (EDI) has today released a report that questions whether stock and derivative exchanges have copyright in closing prices, and whether they can license the redistribution of these closing prices.     The report argues that stock and derivative exchanges do not own the copyright in closing prices and nor do they acquire copyright through statements on their websites or in their licensing contracts. Their databases are also not protected by the EU Database Directive, or by a compilation copyright in the US. It is increasingly clear that no copyright exists in the data and that stock exchange and derivative databases are unlikely to enjoy database protection. Also, antitrust provisions come into play. While an exchange can recover its reasonable costs of supplying data feeds it cannot subsidize its core operations or run a for-profit business by exploiting the monopo

Stolen car crash, Rosslea

Date Time Stolen car crash, Rosslea Police have charged a man following a traffic crash involving an alleged stolen vehicle on Sunday night. It will be alleged around 6pm a stolen 2007 Hyundai Elantra was observed in the car park of a motel on Bowen Road. Upon approach of specialist officers, it is further alleged the driver attempted to flee and crashed into the back of an unmarked police vehicle. The car then left along Bowen Road. A 36-year-old man was arrested at a Belgian Gardens address just after 10am today and was taken to the Townsville Watchhouse. He has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving of a motor vehicle without a licence, evade police and serious assault of a police officer.
